Twisted & Tufted Wool

TWISTED & TUFTED WOOL POLISHING BONNETS

Made from 100% four-ply twisted wool yarn. The polishing bonnets are available in soft or coarse wool finish. Each piece is equipped with a hard backing in PVC.

They are available in the following specifications:

  • Single or double-sided.
  • Velcro or bolt-on type.
  • Original white wool — 100% wool.
  • White acrylic mixed wool blend — 60% acrylic, 40% wool.
  • Yellow acrylic mixed wool blend — 60% acrylic, 40% wool.

For the double-sided bonnets, we also have the Extension Adaptors in M14 – 5/8″ thread. They are made of aluminium, lightweight and extremely durable. The Extension Adaptors are essential during polishing applications. By keeping the bonnet at a certain distance from the machine, they prevent it from overheating and causing any damage.

Instruction for use
  • Recommended speed — 2000-3500 RPM.
  • Do not exceed 5800 RPM.
  • Use only with Back-up Pad.

Back-up Pad Installation
Step 1: Center the polishing pad on the back-up pad.
Step 2: Press firmly on the center of the polishing pad to ensure contact with the back-up pad face.

Polish at a low angle — almost flat — on the surface being glazed. On contours and detail lines, reduce machine pressure to avoid burning.

Polishing Pad Care and Cleaning

Periodically rake the pad with a Polishing Spur Tool or Air Nozzle to remove excess glaze. If the pad becomes clogged, remove it, install a clean one and continue polishing. Allow the used pad to dry. When the used pad dries, clean it either by spurring or washing. If washing is desired, use lukewarm water (up to 46 °C / 115 °F). Do not use hot water, strong or alkaline detergents, or solvents. Machine wash delicate — low agitation wash cycle. Do not dry in the sun or tumble dry. Air dry only.

Warning
  • Keep hands away from bonnet when in operation.
  • During buffing operation, always wear eye protection with side shields and safety gloves.
  • To avoid injury, always make sure the buffer/polisher is unplugged before attaching bonnets.
